21Vianet Blue Cloud and Cegid set a benchmark for international cloud application landing in China retail industry

Beijing – Nov. 05, 2021. 21Vianet Blue Cloud, the premier cloud-computing solution and service provider in China and Cegid, the French software platform giant in retail industry, announced that the Cegid China POD operated by 21Vianet Blue Cloud has been launched in China. The platform has also been evaluated by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and passed DJCP MLPS Level 3 evaluation. It is currently deployed on Microsoft Azure operated by 21Vianet.

As is known to all, China has the world’s second-largest consumer market. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s retail sales of consumer goods reached 6.05 trillion U.S. dollars in 2020 and the number went up by 12.1 percent year on year from January to June 2021. China retail landscape is continuously evolving due to consumption behaviors change and omnichannel commerce development. As on-premise deployment has constraints such as data silo, high maintenance costs, and limited function expansion, providing cloud-based SaaS service is the new trend. However, for international ISVs that have less understanding of Chinese law and regulations, it is essential to opt for a trusted local operator for their cloud services.

As the strategic partner of Microsoft that operates Microsoft Azure, 21Vianet Blue Cloud offers one-stop, end-to-end solution covering legal and compliance consulting, business operations, hosting/managed service, customer support, resell and distribution, and go-to-market service.

“The cooperation will assist retailers in leveraging global SaaS vendors’ advanced technologies and management philosophy to improve service efficiency and achieve digital transformation,” said Will Zhao, VP of VNET GROUP and Vice GM of Blue Cloud. “21Vianet Blue Cloud, an important bridge between the international and domestic markets, has served as a trusted cloud operator in China for many years. With such a unique edge, our partnership with Cegid on cloud applications will deliver more personalized consumer experiences and drive foot traffic to brick-and-mortar stores in the post-pandemic era.”

“China is constantly reinforcing its rules and regulations regarding cyber security”, said Chennan Zhang, Head of Business Development APAC, Cegid. “21Vianet Blue Cloud has smoothly operated Microsoft Public Cloud for 8 years. Having them as the Cegid China POD’s operator, we can rest assure to focus on providing customized solutions to assist retailers with their booming business in the China market.”

The cooperation between 21Vianet Blue Cloud and Cegid is expected to accelerate growth for international retail brands in the China market. The new, innovative partnership leverages digital transformation to create compelling value for retail innovation and consumption growth in China.
